Real Silage

What is Real Silage?

At Masters Choice, we are completely dedicated to improving feeding efficiency and profitability on livestock operations around the world. That starts by knowing and understanding that, when fed to an animal, corn is not “just corn”. Through more than a decade of research and testing we know that different corn genetics break down differently in the rumen, and that it takes the right type of hybrid to make a difference on your farm. Sometimes our competitors miss the mark, but at MC we know that to make “Real Silage” it takes a whole organizational commitment and philosophy.

Nutrition That Yields

It isn’t enough to have hybrids with enhanced nutritional value, though. For us to make a real impact on your farm we must be able to yield with anything else out there, because it doesn’t matter how well it feeds if you didn’t make enough. At Masters Choice, our hybrid development and selection process starts with yield, and it doesn’t matter what nutritional benefits a hybrid brings if it doesn’t pass our benchmarks for yield and agronomics. The only hybrids that meet all three criteria (yield, agronomics, advanced nutrition) make it into our commercial lineup.

Beat the Fall Slump

Another benefit to feeding Masters Choice hybrids is that they can “beat the fall slump”, as they are able to be fed earlier in the season with less ensiling. The softer, more floury type of kernels break down easier and in 30 days can reach starch digestibility levels that typically take competitor’s hybrids 3-4 months of ensiling.
